J.K. Rowling takes us on a wizarding journey through American history and culture in the prequel story, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” Four new writings from Rowling will appear on Pottermore starting March 8, and the first installment in a movie trilogy will hit theatres on November 18, 2016.
Fantastic Beasts follows wizard Newt Scamander (whom Potterheads will recognize as one of the famous wizards from the Harry Potter series) and his adventures in America. Set in New York in 1926, the adventures begin when the magical beasts brought to America by Newt escape. The main characters are forced to scramble to collect and contain the creatures before more chaos ensues and the secrets of the wizarding world are unleashed.
Rowling herself will be writing the screenplay with director David Yates, and the films star Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterson as Porpentina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Ezra Miller as Credence, Colin Farrell as Parcival Graves, and Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski.
“This world, it’s been a wonder really. It’s just unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of… It’s like imagination taken to the extreme,” said Redmayne.
The trailers and special features alone have already brought the magic of the Harry Potter world back to the big screen. None can deny the excitement over the new installments, and fans are anxious to see the final product on the big screen.
“Fans of Harry Potter, they’re going to feel the nostalgia and the love they have for the movies in a whole new light,” said Fogler.
