Last week on April 17 the Clear Lake High School choir performed at Carnegie Hall in New York for their spring trip.

The choir program goes on an annual spring trip. The choir alternates every year for in state and out of state trips. Students paid for a portion of the cost and parent donations combined with fund raisers made up the rest.

The students who opted in to the trip to New York left on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and came back on Tuesday night.

Concert Women and A Capella performed in the National Festival Chorus conducted by Andrea Ramsey, who also wrote their repertoire. Concert men and Mixed Chorale performed the Mozart Coronation Mass conducted by Jeffery Benson.

“We worked with Dr. Bensen from San Jose University and many other choirs from across the nation,” junior Rachel Brookover said. “I loved being with fellow choirs who shared the same passion as me.”

On Monday, all the choirs performed in Carnegie Hall. Many choir members were in awe of performing at the historic music hall.

Sophomore Eva Lund said, “Being on stage was accelerating, nerve-wracking, and ultimately a great experience.”

Along with performing at Carnegie Hall, the choir went to visit some of New York City’s most popular attractions. One of those trips was going to see a Broadway show.

“I really enjoyed the entire production and it was something I really want to see again,” senior Simon Holmes on Mixed Chorale’s viewing of Aladdin.

Clear Lake is proud of it’s stellar choir as it exceeds expectations with it’s performance at Carnegie Hall.
