With the arrival of the Texas homecoming season, what comes to mind are mums.

But, Hurricane Harvey the destruction left in the greater Houston area some seniors are finding it difficult to have the time or materials to put mums together for each other.

Ashlynn Klots, a sophomore said, “I don’t like making the mums it’s a waste of time and materials,” Ashlynn Klots, a sophomore said.

The DECCA store is selling mini-mums in order to raise profits for those affected  in Harvey. That way students can have one less stress and get back into the homecoming spirit.

“I think it’s a good money saver since some people are putting all their money into repairs,” said the German teacher, Frau Valentine.

These mini-mums are similar to the traditional mums with all the ribbons and tassels; the only difference is they are made smaller.

Sophomore Melissa Del Monte, said, “I love the mini-mums. They are so cute, and it is for a good cause. It makes it easier that these mums are only like $10 whereas the big ones cost way too much. This year I’ve bought all my friends mini-mums.”

Del Monte hopes that the DECCA store continues this new trend they started. That way, more students can share in the Texas homecoming mum tradition
