Girls Varsity Basketball dominated on Friday at the Baytown Lee Tournament, walking away with a championship from a 20 point win against Pearland Dawson. The girls threw down in their tournament and the following is how they were feeling after their big win. I sat down with two players, Morgan Gray and Mariah Adams, senior point guards, to find out what this championship means to them.

Q: What’s the toughest part about the tournament?

A: Mariah: Playing early, especially when we hadn’t played a game in months.

Q: Were you nervous?

A: Morgan: Not Really. We don’t really get nervous anymore, we’ve been playing for so long.

Q: How was the game in all?

A: Mariah: It was amazing, missing school to win games.

A: Morgan: We got first place, so no time wasted.

Q: How did you feel?

A: Mariah: Amazing, winning our first 3 games of the season really feels good, we’ve put in work for this.

Q: How did the coaches feel?

A: Morgan: They were pretty happy. We’ve been with Coach K for four years and this is our first 1st plan win.

Q: What are your plans after high school? Will you play in college?

A: Mariah: Who knows what will happen.

A: Morgan: No, but I have committed to play softball at Blinn College.

Q: What’s next for the team?

A: Morgan: We hope to be going into thanksgiving break 6-0.

A: Mariah: Just preparing for our next games, hoping to get as many wins as possible.

With this tournament in the rearview, the Lady Falcons have a lot to look forward to this next season.
